I don't think it's wonderful, but it's interesting and I've just noticed that there's a film out with Leonardo di-whosit and Kate whassername. I have a copy here, if anyone wants it? pm me your snailmail - otherwise it goes to Oxfam.

What's it about?
I just finished The Help (a tale of 3 women in Jackson, Mississippi during the 60ies), which I really liked, and have just started Brick Lane (Indian immigrants in London).
Any other good books I can sink my teeth into this summer?

I don't know, really! Blurb says 'a bright young couple, bored with suburban life, who long to be exraordinary'. (Great recommendation, huh!) It's just that I saw there's a film out.
Brick Lane was great, wasn't it?
I'm trawling this forum for recommendations, too, so will put The Help on my list, thanks.

Niaru, I read The Help recently- pretty good, but I wasn't wowed. Brick lane was great. I think I heard they are making it into a movie.
Bara, read The Russian Concubine, about a young Russian woman living in China during the Communist uprising. It's an amazing book, and the sequel to to recently came out. Let's see, what else have I read this summer...
Hannah's Dream, about a zookeeper saving an elephant from horrible zoo conditions.
The Little Giant of Aberdeen County, about a very large child and her life with her perfect sister.
Shanghai Girls, about two Chinese sisters who are sold by their father as wives to Chinese immigrants living in San Francisco.
The Willow Field, about a young traveling ranchhand who falls in love with a ranch owner's daughter. Kind of horsey.
These are the better of what I have read in the past few months.

Yes, I'm enjoying Brick lane. Thea I read the Russian Concubine, good book, but the sequel was just so-so I found. I'll see if they have the books you mentioned at the library. Thanks!
