Yeah, I'm on the lines of thinking stomping flies on hard dry ground. I just rasped my guys hoofs to put a bit more of a bevel/round back in them between shoeing, as they were having similar chipping going on. The odd thing is Guy looks like he blew an abscess a while ago, but he was never lame. Weird. Only hoof supplement I've ever used that showed any real results was Nu-foot, Zen had some hoof issues when I got him. I kept him on it for over a year just to be sure.
