I've found a new author I like! Fantasy for sure so if you don't like fantasy, don't read it! lol
I just read his whole Fury series and his next is coming out in Nov/Dec of this year. GREAT series and the public library had this set.
I liked him so much that I continued reading his Dreaden series, about a wizard detective in modern society. It's ok. Not as good as his Fury series, but I'll read them Been reading approximately a book a day and loving it! I've just gotten Charlaine Harris' latest book, Dead and Gone and am starting that and then trying to catch up on Alexander McCall Smith's last 5 books or so. :-) I can't wait until summer if officially here! woohoo!

I take it the school year is OVER! Enjoy your summer books, Filly. You are due for a little escapist reading.

Hmm...I may have to order these at the library. Our library has a very useful service that allows you to request that they purchase 2 books for you per month. I love it!
I have been reading Charlaine Harris too. I have finished the 5th Sookie Stackhouse book and am waiting for the 6th to be checked back in. Are you watching True Blood on HBO? Season two is about to start. I thought they did a really good job with season one, especially with the supporting characters' side stories, and I love Alan Ball from Six Feet Under.

Sorry to get sidetracked, but as a librarian, this intrigues me! Our library does this a little differently--a patron can recommend something for purchase at any time, but the 2 books per month idea seems interesting! I wonder if they did this to encourage people to "buy in" to the library, or if they had a pesky patron who was recommending hundreds of books and they did this to put a lid on that one individual. (We have one patron who is singlehandedly responsible for several systemwide policies! ) But I can see a real benefit to your 2-a-month plan, too. It allows patrons to be part of the selection process, which is good since patrons are the ones checking out the materials. Nifty.

Our library is very new - just opened in 2003 - so they are still actively populating the shelves. I like their book order policy a lot, partly because the collection is still fairly small so a lot of times they don't have a book I am looking for, and also because I am able to get books in English. This is a francophone town so if they have the book in French they would not necessarily also have it in English. This way we are all able to request books we'd like to read and there is no language requirement for ordering.

Great way to grow a collection that will really be right for the community. I like it!
