I just started Temple Grandin's latest book, Animals Make Us Human. It's interesting and very readable. She has autism but has become an expert in the field of humane treatment of animals. I haven't gotten to the chapter on horses yet, but she's already made some interesting references to horse behavior and I'm hoping I have time this weekend to read a lot more.
Anyone else read this book, or others by this author?

I haven't read it but it sounds interesting. Let us know what you think of it!
I am currently reading Michael Chabron's The Yiddish Policemen Union. Well that's "different", lol! A whole invented contemporary world...after a nuclear bomb on Berlin in 1946, a failed attempt for a state of Israel, Jews are exiled in...Alaska. I had a hard time getting into it (actually read several good French books while trying, lol!) but now I'm enjoying it.
ps-sorry, that should be a new thread. But I'm interested in your book, Ann!

I have started and not finished a couple of Chabon's books. Maybe I should give them another try! I was going to settle in this afternoon for a long read, but at Curves this morning, I ran into the barn manager who looked pointedly at me and said that Cypress is covered with mud and shedding hair. Guess I might spend more time grooming and less time reading today!

I picked it up at the library just because of the title. As soon as I finish the book I'm on, I'll start it.

And the cover, luckyleo! Isn't that a gorgeous setter? It made me want to read the book.

I read her first, Animals In Translation and thought it was wonderful. A real eye opener in a lot of ways, both in what it reveals about living with autism, and also the parallels between animal behaviour and autistic behaviours. Empathy without sentimentality. Powerful. recommend it highly. I want to read this new one of hers.
