I'm reading Monarch of the Glen (Compton Mackenzie, 1951, it's older than WE are!) and I love it. First I got addicted to the BBC TV series (are you rolling your eyes yet?), but Bruce won't let me watch it without him, and he's always too busy to watch with me lately, so I've switched to the book to tide me over. Had to request it from the Toledo Library (Toledo Ohio, dear, not Spain) and now I follow Bruce around reading very long, very funny sentences, so he's not getting any work done anyway. Had to torture him with a passage about the National Union of Hikers meeting at the Astrovegetarian Hall--they were all "the same mixture of dowdiness and defiance," which sounds suspiciously like half the people in our present day social circle (Exracers excluded, of course).
I promise to read the boy in the pajamas soon.

Of course not - it's a classic! (And it's a year younger than I am!) As long as you promise to read 'Whisky Galore' next and not to buy a print of the Landseer painting! Well, you'd better read 'Pyjamas' to put Heinz into context. Apart from that - Pyjamas should be required reading.
