I am reading this and it is truly a treat. It's very well written, full of insight and interesting thoughts, full of action, too, I just can't put it down.
(And I didn't read Moby Dick, lol)
Who else read it?

I read this book many years ago, and have always tried to get someone else to read it, but people are intimidated by its size and subject. It is an AWESOME read! Enough so that its story has stayed with me for years.

Gosh - it's definitely on my list, thanks, Claire. I remember reading Moby Dick at about age 11 - my brother thrusting it into my hands and saying 'Here kid. Read this.'

Reading it now, Niaru. GOSH! I'm just up to the bit where she has cut off her hair, is passing as a boy and signed up as a cabin boy on The Sussex.
Strange relationships going on here ...
;D

I can't put it down. But when I do, I have to go for frothy TV panel shows.
I'm waking up at 4 a.m. to find out what is happening next.. She has bumped shoulders with Kit, who didn't recognise her. She has seen Giles at the tiller - but no-one has blown her cover yet ...

We're back in Nantucket ... It's quite a HARD book, Claire! But compulsive.

I never told you. I finished it - then re-read it. It's an amazing book - but HARD!

You re-READ it? Wow! Yes it is a hard book, very thought-provocative. Maybe I should re-visit it too. Isn't it great tho?

It's amazing. But it's challenging!
I had to re-read it, because, to be honest I think both readings were 'half a reading'.
'Enjoy' is not the right word, Ann, but omiword.
I went back to re-read the lighthouse sequences - and to try not to skip over the open boat.
Nuff said!
