I decided to invite friends for dinner this evening, and declined their offer to "bring something." I have a giant stew in the oven and a lentil-potato-pesto invention ready to bake. I am making cornbread, salad and some kind of baked apple thing for dessert. I hope they like the food so much that they don't look around the house because I have no time to clean!!!
If we can stay awake long enough, we'll all go to see Atonement--the late show--at the Little Art Theatre downtown. I have my doubts. About our ability to stay awake, not about the move!

Oh, you're brave. When we get together with friends, usually people bring side dishes and dessert, and the host does the main dish. You rock! Have fun!

I hope you have a good time Ann, and with that menu, I sure wouldn't worry about how the house looks, heck I'd be too busy enjoying the food to even look around. lol Let me know how you liked the movie.

The stew was excellent. The lentils were not. cornbread was so-so. Salad was simply tossed and desert was "Baked Apple Delight" with cream drizzled over it. Coffee helped keep me awake through the movie! Atonement...hmmmm.... I'm impossible to please, I think. I'd give it a B. Keira Knightly is lovely, but seems to be posing more than acting at times. The fellow is fine, but even in happy scenes he looked pale and wan. Is that some kind of fashion now? I miss big swarthy heroes! LATE BREAKING FLASH OF THE OBVIOUS: Um, really, what WAS I thinking, posting a menu of several gazillion calories on this board!

Drat! My invitation didn't arrive... Glad you had a good time. Calorie? What's a calorie? You get to an age, when ...
