I love egg nog, but recently replaced it with Silk Nog - 1/2 the calories and 1/5 the fat! Doesn't taste quite as good though, but lasts longer

The So Co Vanilla egg nog has 220 calories per serving, didn't look to see how many servings in the container hehe. Bummer it was outdated already, I tossed it and just bought some light egg nog at the store. It doesn't taste bad for being light. And after the week we've had, we'll probably spike the sucker tomorrow lol.

Maybe silk nog is an acquired taste but adding rum does help! lol I got regular egg nog from Walmart this year, it wasn't expired but I opened it and poured some, and it was totally ransid The smell was so nasty I didn't want regular eggnog at all anymore, so next time I picked up silk nog. I drink soy milk a lot, so that probably makes the transition easier too

"Light" eggnog? Girls, that's unnatural. I bet the ingredients list is completely unpronounceable. (Hey, when I just now went to dictionary.com to double-check the spelling of "unpronounceable" why did ads for "Reduce that belly fat" show up at the top? And what kind of grammar dork looks up correct spellings for a thread about eggnog calories? I have a lot of problems.)

Hey ad, it's no more unnatural than likits. I heard about people that eat likits. You can only pronounce like the first two ingredients, and they might as well just say sugar. lol.

aw man! I completely forgot about eggnog! What kind of Christmas is that? Can I still get it? The real stuff?

It's Eggnog, you can only get it once a year go for it. Lynne, I think you can usually still get it until just after New Years, but then it's gone. Although as for getting it, that can be tough. I guess the kiddies have decided cinnamon schnapps and eggnog are the in thing. I was lucky to get what I found just before Christmas. In anyway, what was wrong with brandy, rum, or whiskey in your eggnog? Hot Damn was always best straight-up!

i found a low fat home made recipe for eggnog. all of the store brands i have found contain corn syrup (ick).
Low Fat Eggnog 6 cups skim milk 1 cup “Egg Beaters” (or similar) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 teaspoons rum extract sweetener or sugar, to taste (i prefer organic sugar, as some sweeteners when heated break down into icky chemicals) 2 x pinch nutmeg, ground 2 x pinch cinnamon, ground
In a medium saucepan (or bowl, if you plan to use the microwave), heat the milk, Egg Beaters and sugar. You’ll need to remember to stir continuously if you’re using the stove, and every minute if you’re using the microwave.
Heat & stir until the mixture thickens slightly – enough that it can coat the back of a spoon.
Stir in the vanilla extract, rum extract, one pinch of nutmeg & one pinch of cinnamon.
Remove from heat (or microwave).
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the eggnog has cooled (at least 3 hours).
Just prior to serving, ladle your yummy low fat eggnog into glasses, and garnish each with an extra little sprinkle of ground nutmeg & ground cinnamon.
