I'm another one that needs to get in shape! I used to jog about 3 miles a day, which I found to be plenty thank you, lol. I am going to look into the elliptical, my messed up foot doesn't do so well anymore, and I'm afraid to start jogging until I see the doctor. Catch the fact I didn't say "run", lol, I only jog

Anyone use an elliptical? Yes, we have one at home and use it a lot. We got a higher end model and I think that was a good move since it has held up well and has a variety of settings. It is great to have when you are injured or sore for whatever reason.

Oh, this thread makes me sad I just had major knee surgery in September and my surgeon stopped in the middle of the operation (I was awake and had a regional anesthetic from the waste down) and said "No more running ... EVER!" I had had two ACL reconstructions before, but this was my third. I also had microfractures and a lateral release of my patella. I have very little cartilage left on the outer half of my knee and only half of the miniscus. Unfortunately, this is largely due to running for a long time when I really shouldn't have. Well, run for me !!! I love running. I used to do a lot of bike racing (mountain and road) and I've decided that I'm going to get a cyclocross bike so that I can get enthusiastic about it again. I have tons of dirt roads and double-tracks around here that I could ride on with a 'cross bike to my hearts content. I hope that will ease the pain (emotional pain that is)!
