Very, very odd little book. Set in Nazi Germany - and no! Not a Jewish protagonist, a perfectly ordinary German girl..
Un-put-down-able.
Don't know if I enjoyed it, but I definitely liked it..

Ha ha, Claire - ain't he just! And they don't even feature him on any of the covers... Ah, but our copy is the paperback, so maybe that's why we don't see the cute author.
That's a very odd review. I think the reviewer is saying the same as me (but in a more erudite way) 'Not sure why I liked it - but I liked it.' He gives FAR too much away in that review ... if you haven't read it and you're planning to read the book ... leave the review until later.
Personally, I would be proud to have written that book - and I just don't see all the Potter references the critic did. I think it may simply be that the protagonist is a youngster..
I'll get a pack of books off to you probably middle of next week, Terrie. I'll be interested in your and Filly's opinions.
I leave it that I think the author is very much better than the reviewer ..

I just skimmed over the review, read the end of it just to get the main idea...to see if the critic seemed to like it and why.
I should order it in German...do I dare...it's been so long...lol

Oh wow - but why not Claire? Order it in the German, I'll bet there are layers and layers more meaning in that edition. And the French.
In the English, he kinda heads things up with the German, then translates, but you can just see that there's loads more 'inference' in the German.
Anyone here speak German?

That's okay Bara. My Rick can speak German but I don't think he would be into reading a book in German. lol He's not much on reading books. Now give him a magazine and he is a happy camper.
