His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I just found it at Wal-mart, couldn't resist. It's a trilogy. Not that I don't have enough to read

You'll love it! I just finished the trilogy myself. I suggest you do not leave long stretches between reading it...there is a lot going on and if you put it down for a while and come back to it, you will have to backtrack a bit.
Be sure to finish the first book before December 7, when the movie comes out. It looks to be excellent!

Very good choice, Brooks. I'm sure I mentioned young Philip before. Shannon, too, has just finished the trilogy.
What are your daemons, everyone? I think mine is a small wolfXshark.
Anyone else in love with the Bear?
ps - Terrie : 'His Dark Materials' - That's the trilogy which is in your package for delivery. If you don't like/don't want - then please forward!

I know mine must be a dog or cat, they seem to follow me every where I just started it last night and can't put it down already. You'll love it Terrie.

Ah....but you can find out your daemon by going to this site. (One of the kids at the library told me about it.) www.goldencompassmovie.com/Click on Daemons and follow the directions. Apparently I have Sergius, the hare, because I am "responsible, modest, solitary, shy and dependable ." (I quibble with the modesty bit. Don't you think I brag about my horse too much!?)

Gosh! What a great site. And what a surprise.
My daemon is a crow : Alexius. My dog is Alexis. I am solitary, too, Ann. I wonder why?

I lOVED those books! Very imaginative and original. I can't wait to see how they adapted the book to the movies. Thanks for the link Ann, that was fun! My daemon is Gabriel the Gibbon, because according to the test I am "modest, solitary, shy, assertive and spontaneous". !!! Cute monkey
