Mapp and Lucia are wonderful I read them again and again. I didn't think much of E.F. Benson's ghost stories though.

Oh, I haven't read the ghost stories, Claire. Did you see that someone (can't remember who... ) has done a pastiche and taken Tilling and 'Mallards' on? Same thing happened with Wind in The Willows - someone else wrote a sequel. Yes Oryx and Crake was wonderful - but weird! Did you see the Mapp and Lucia TV series, Claire? It was (I believe) Geraldine McKeon, Nigel Hawthorne (as the tres gay, Georgino Mio) - and, I believe Imelda Staunton. (She of the new Harry Potter!)

Anything by Dick Francis! Thrillers with horsey backdrops. Very entertaining.

Took my own advice and checked out a Jody Jaffe book I hadn't read yet. On page one, there's a horse named Blue By You. It don't get much lighter than that! LOL!
