In "The Horse Whisperer" by Nicholas Evans -- Pilgrim ..."was a four-year-old Morgan, a gelding of a bay so dark that in some lights he looked black." Not a stallion.

I didn't think he was a stallion. It was a pretty good book. I wish I had never seen the beginning of the movie!!

I had the book The Horse Whisper and read it before I saw the movie. I won't even go there on my opinion of the movie, but I didn't care for the book at all. I had planned to keep it, but didn't want it to take up space on my shelf.

Really?! Where did I get it into my head that he was a stallion?

Probably the movie, Thea ... I can't remember. You know how movie people exaggerate and twist plot details. I saw that movie, strangely enough, in a motel not far from Brooks and Brian's place! About ... late 90's?? I have to say that the over-riding (!!) memory of that movie was : 'I want to ride THERE!' Was it Montana? We'd just been to a 'Dude Ranch' in Arizona ... (So, of COURSE we finished up in Paso Robles ... sigh.)

I read the book and I liked it. I loaned it out though to an acquaintance not really caring if I got it back or not. I've found that when the screenplays are written a lot of detail is left out that could make the movie better. I have the Nicholas Evans next book he wrote, "The Loop". Any of the books I have are for anyone who wants to read them. My next project, when I time from reading ;D is make a list of the 61 titles. edited for spelling

I have "The Dressage Rider's Survival Guide" by one of the COTH posters. It's pretty funny! Anyone wants it?
I didn't care for The Horse Whisperer. Too much drama, and the beginning of the book hits way too close to home for comfort (I almost hit a snow plow with Rita one winter...only broke my hand, but that was scary). Hated the movie. They couldn,t even find a Morgan to play Pilgrim in the movie, hmpppf. And that red-haired actress, the mother? She was MUCH better in 4 weddings and 1 Funeral!

I read The Loop Too and didn't care for it either. Maybe I just don't like his writing style.
Bara what is the Tenderness of Wolves about? It sounds interesting.

Goalie, Kim already asked for it. Kim, can you pass it on to Goalie when you're done? I'll put it in the mail on Monday.
Everyone, don't forget to put your name in the book so we'll always know whose it is...just in case!
