Just wanted to let you all know that our mare "Luna Sea" is being retired. She ran her last race tonight, winning by 10 lengths I think. It was definitely a way to go out with a "bang!"
We decided she's been too good to us. It's time for her next career to start. We have a buyer for her that is looking to breed so please cross your fingers that this new home works out for her. I think she'll be headed to Florida (but don't quote me on that).
We love this mare and hope she produces babies that have as much heart as she does!

Huge kudos to Luna Sea for finishing on a BIG win and huge kudos for you and your family for recognizing it's time for a new "career." Jingles for the transaction to go through!

It is good to hear that she will go on to be a broodmare. I'm sure she'll have great babies and kudos to you guys for letting her retire with 4 good legs

Well poo...the sale fell through. The guy thinks there is something wrong with her since we still want to sell after such an impressive win.
It is likely she'll run again when she's had enough time off. I was hoping she'd be on her way to her new home already. How disappointing.
The opportunity came and we thought that was great and good timing as we had just starting talking about when she was going to retire but hadn't decided when.
Now I feel like a schmuck for jumping the gun. I was just so excited for her. Next time I'll just have to keep my big ole mouth shut until the horse is on it's way to a new home....
She's a nice mare who really loves her job. I guess that wasn't meant to work out. Bummer!

Aww bummer Jen...I was hoping it'd work out. I'll send lots of positive thoughts for you! I'd take her if I could have another one...

Darn it! Well maybe this guy is not right for her if that is the way he thinks. I'd love to have her in my broodmare band but she is really closely related to Indy.

Jen, what are ya selling her for? She sounds like the type of horse Kim likes to find . I don't know what a "retired" mare with that type of record is worth though........so I could be way off base here.

No, I don't think a jumping career is in her future. She has an old osselet and I would worry about it not holding up to it. Thanks for the thought though!

No, Indy is by Forest Wildcat and out of Polish Queen. Polish Queen is by Polish Navy so still pretty close.
I hope you find the right situation for her.

err - you wouldn't consider sending her over with the Tarts' Tour, would you, Jen??
;D
Well - good luck, Luna. I'm sure she'll find her home really quickly.
