Escapable Beaux (Artiscape - Beauteous - Jate Lobell) came from lengths back to beat favourites Panoramic and Putnam Romeo in a five wide sweep down the stretch. Panoramic and Putnam Romeo fought a head to head battle the whole mile, with Panoramic taking the lead off the gate. He kept his nose in front of Putnam Romeo for most of the mile, but the wicked fractions took it's toll on the McLeod trained colt. As they neared the wire, Panoramic faded, and while Putnam Romeo managed to hang on for second, he was fading as well. Escapable Beaux, in that unbelievable five wide sweep off the turn made up several lengths deficit to win by a scant nose over the Mceneny trained Putnam Romeo. A surprising third was the 30-1 Keith Clark trained Close The Deal (Grinfromeartoear-Bountiful Bid-Tyler B), who finished a short head back.
