I wanted to do it for Odin. Sadly I never did. Maggie is going to get acupunture at a vet on Thursday, who also does herbs, beh. modification, food consultaions, and TTouch, I think, so I'm going to check it out. I can't wait!
Shelly I just went to that site~Very cool. It says TTouch works for all sorts of things, seperation anxiety, extreme shyness...hmmm, maybe I do need to learn this ;D

TEXT I'm thrilled to see more and more sites that are geared towards helping our animals in an animal friendly way to treat behavioral and physical problems....That is why I do energy work...Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy for animals ....It helps to improve if not illiminate problems without the use of cruel devices or medications that dull or just cover up the condition temporarily. It shows we are becoming more aware that animals have feelings and fears just like we do and if we can both work together in a gentle non evasive manner with compassion, understanding and patience, not force or control to get what we want, there are endless possibilities which we can achieve together in a true partnership with our wonderful animals...Treating them as the wonderful beings they are, we will then start to treat each other with that same understanding and compassion...What a wonderful step towards true healing all ways around especially in a time that we find ourselves in now ....It all comes full circle. If we really pay attention to our animals, the way they act and treat each other, they can be the greatest teachers to us...That's something we can't afford to loose ;D Sorry I'm going on and on...Just think it's so important to learn ways to heal not hurt to get what we all want and need in life ;)Our animals are here to help teach us how to do just that ! Think about it :coffee:

Shelly, Maggie is 17 (March 18th and she's 18!) and she had Cushings and liver failure. Any meds I pet her on for Cushings and arthitis, and I hurt her liver. There's not much conventional vet med can do, so Steve looked into acupuncure/herbs for Maggie, and we're going to this vet.
I can't wait. I'm so excited to learn something new, and I have high hopes for her. Maggie also urinates all over herself, asleep or awake and it's not hormone related (or medical, ie bladder infection) so I'm hopeful this new vet can help her with that too.
Do you also do the animal communicator? I forgot, sorry. It seems I left everyones ID on the old board, and I can't seem to remember. I'm not that old yet ;D

Glad you're going with the acupuncture Michelle, it was amazing to watch it bing done on Jasper! Did you ever look into herbs for Porter and his gastric booboos? I have a really good book (you know me and my books) that lists all kinds of alternatives for specific things in hosses, and somewhere I have one for dogs too. I can look it up for you if you like. :horsie:

Claire, no I haven't done anything herbal for Porter. He is on a probiotic. That's it. I'd love to learn more though if you find you book!

Hi Michelle I'm so glad you are going to a vet that does alternative treatments ....The accupunture will help greatly....Yes, unfortunately the meds usually given for one ailment will cause another problem...The accupunture actually works with energy...it stimulates and opens the meridians that are blocked and are causing the problem....Where do you live If you can find a person that also does energy work on animals you could always have them work on maggie physically....It is really wonderful work ;D you can have absentee work done energy wise but if you could actually talk to and observe it being done in person I would suggest it....you might even want to learn it yourself....If you tell me where you live I might be able to assist you in finding a practitioner of the healing arts....Yes I do animal communication you were right.....I would ask the vet about kidneys....possible stones.....has she sprained or fallen where she is a bit sore to the touch....in the groin area she's saying she is uncomfortable and showing me the groin area...Let me know what happens once the vet sees her....Good Luck....Shelley

Shelley, you're SO cool :sun: And I was just talking to my neighbour about animal communicators. She had talked to one about her bird who told her some stuff that she couldn't possibly have known. Awesome. I told her I'd love to talk to all my gang. I have no issues, love 'em all, but would love to know what they think of me

The barn manager where Rita was had a funny story: every week-end, a "communicator" visits and just listens to the horses for free. She says she likes coming here because there's such positive energy in that barn. (I believe that, Rita loved it there). Anyway, she once approched the barn manager to tell her that one of the horses was complaining of bad headaches. As it turned out, he had been kicked in the head and when they had him checked by the vet after hearing the communicator's story, they found he had a fractured skull with a bone chip moving around!! They removed the chip and he's fine. Weird, uh? This Communicator had NO WAY of knowing the horse had been kicked in the head...

Shelly, that's too cool, and a little freaky! Maggie fell or jumped down the window well to the basement, probably 8 feet, and was limping on and off in the right front. We x rayed her, and it was fine, arthritis in the wrist, but she is 17! But she's been, sore/off in back as well. She started to sit funny with her right hind, looks like her hip is bothering her. I noticed this about a month ago, but can't give her any anti-inflammatories b/c of her liver, poor baby
Anyway, my boyfriend (Steve)is a vet, and he lives with us. We did blood work and abdominal x rays but didn't see any stones, I'll definately ask him tonight though. Sometimes you don't see things on x rays that are really there, although we did find a 12 year old BB in her!
Steve is really open to new things (especially for a vet, AND a man ;D) and he found us an acuputurist and holistic vet. There's not much he can do for her and we both want to do more.
We're in Colorado, south east of Denver. If you can recommend anyone out here, I'd also like my Akita, Ishi, done, he has had one TPLO and needs the other knee done. I know he hurts and want to help him until and after the next surgery. Also, he seems "ouchy" all over, so I think it would be great for him.
I hope Maggie only had good things to say! 17 years is a long time, but I don't think she holds grudges ;D Thank you so much!
