I heard tell you could feed yogurt as an economical alternative to probiotics. I haven't tried either for the horses, although I am a yougurt-disciple, myself.
I saw that in a mailing from John Lyons. I'm not a Lyons fan, and I did not subscribe to the newletter the mailing was for, but that was a tidbit in it.

I feed Forco as a probiotic, but heard that Fast Track was also a good probiotic.
If Sonic does have ulcers, like my Porter did, that'll prevent her from gaining weight. You have to scope to know for sure and there are different meds. Anything you can buy at Stateline or Valley Vet ect. will not work. Trust me on this, I just went through it all.
Gastroguard works best, it actually heals the ulcers. It's also $36-60/day. Rinidadine is next best and helps prevent more ulcers, but will not heal then like Gastroguard does.
Hopefully she doesn't have them, or if she does, they are not major, and with a good diet and care she'll be fat and happy in no time ;D
