Smay, that's about what my vet said today, so I feel better. The fact that it did happen 6 months ago is good, but I didn't know the laminitis could cause the abcesses, that's good to know. Linda, I emailed that site and they said Gene does come up to this area! So, I'm going to see if he'll come up and do Porter and Nate, my big ISH. That's cool if he can! Luckily, I'm in the desert, opps, I mean, Colorado. We don't get plush spring grass, so I'm OK with that. I just totally paniced on my poor vet. He called Steve, who was easier to talk to then me ;D and we're doing the right things for him. I shouldn't ride him for about 6 more months, but I can do light ground work, and maybe start to lounge in a few more months. At least I know his feet aren't falling off

You know, Michelle, just as Adcooper was saying, I have a good feeling that Porter is going to come through all this bad stuff just fine. Considering all he's been through, I'm not surprised he foundered. I believe with corrective trimming/shoeing, proper nutrition, and good care, you'll be amazed how he comes around one of these days! Also, for what it's worth, my shoer has made the comment more than once in the almost 10 years I've used him that my mare looked like she had foundered. Not true, whatsoever, but I do know that the slightest upset can show up in their feet. After all, aren't the feet the window to the soul? (Okay, I made that up. ;D) Just don't give up hope!

I just want the lil set backs to stop! I also feel so bad for him, we were all so worried about the ulcers, we waited on the feet until now.
