HIGHLY AT RISK - 3yo OTTB Filly - FL
« Thread Started on Nov 16, 2009, 1:44pm »

This is a cross post, please contact the lady below!!!

Hello please let me introduce myself. My name is Allan and I
need a home for a thoroughbred (details below). I am writing to you and
everybody I can find on the web to get the word out. Any help you can
provide would be gratefully appreciated.

I maybe in Florida
and you are far away but I bet you know more people than I do.

Thank you so much

I have a former race horse (3yr old thoroughbred) rescued
recently from Calder race track Florida.
Her last race was a couple of months ago. Her racing name was “Facebrook”, her
new name is Kishi Kame (Japanese Fortunate Tortuous)

She is approximately 15 1, with a very quiet disposition
(this would be the reason she lost every race). She is presently in care at a
facility near Hobe Sound. I have enough funds for a total of six weeks only,
but that is six weeks more than she would have had.

Regrettably after that time I have no other options. I am at
this time unemployed and my savings will only go so far, if in this six weeks I
can locate employment then she will be fine for a longer period. Otherwise I
have a vet that will euthanize for no charge.

At this time I can stipulate that she trailers very well no
fuss, feet are good she has been de-shoed and can be turned out with others.
She stands quietly and can be fussed over with halters, bridles and saddles.
Because of distance and cost of fuel she is worked only twice a week (weekend).
The rest of the time she is cared for with other boarders being turned out and
stalled alternatively. She is putting on weight nicely and is not shy of her
feed.

Work:

At the weekends she is put on lunge and long rein, working
well to the left as expected, the right is still foreign to her but she is
picking it up. She is ridden, walk and trot (only) alternatively, left and
right circles then figure eight alternate directions. She is at present a
little wooded to ride as to be expected. But she is not adverse to the work. We
use a regular snaffle with English tack.

She is not groomed during the week however on weekends she
is bathed and groomed feet are checked over thoroughly and she is massaged.

She will not make a polo pony, definitely not dressage,
possibly jumper, she will make a great trail horse (hacking), good for kids
with minor experience (in the hands of a decent trainer maybe a first horse).
The consensus is that she would be a good school horse.

I can, with in reason, foot the bill for transportation to a
new home.

This doesn't add up to me, but who knows, maybe this guy is for real.

Anyway, her sire is Montbrook, who is Porter's sire. He is as this filly is described, calm, sweet, easy going. If this filly doesn't have any physical issues to keep her from being a sport horse, I honestly believe Montrook babies are phenominal, each one I've met tries 100% every time out.

I have to agree with einstien..... It sounds a bit fishy to me. Kinda is written like a scammer.

But if it is ligit... then I hope someone helps this guy and horse out.

I pulled her chart, this is a filly who only ran 4 times, 2 times for $40,000 and the last 2 for $12,500. Not a cheap low level horse. Montbrook is standing at Ocala Stud (Acording to his web page he's 2009 Florida's leading sire!), who is her sire. She has the same owner and same trainer in all 4 races and last raced in late October with a work just before it.

I'm wondering what this person actually wants, money? Or to give her away? If she is a free horse then someone will get a VERY well bred sport horse, her pedigree is wonderful IMHO! This is all about Montbrook:

Montbrook was the sire of a colt named Chapel Royal. I have galloped a few of his babies, LAID BACK (and very big) is a great way to describe them, but very athletic and wonderful horses. I am a huge Montbrook fan!

Someone should email this guy.

Here is the link to her pictures. http://wellingtonhorseandrider.com/
I have emailed Allan and asked some questions but so far all I have received is an automatic response email with the picture link in it. Below the picture is the following statement by Allen. "I have had many emails and phone calls concerning Kishi, she has been offered a place at the Thoroughbred Rehab and Placement service (as soon as they have space). This is not a forever home and they charge for the adoption. Until she is placed with that service she is still in my care and I will continue to place her I a good home. Now that she has this other avenue the financial burden after the next few weeks has been lifted from me. Therefore she will not suffer in anyway and will not have to be euthanized to avoid any suffering due to lack of funds. Quite frankly the thought of having to go that route gave me sleepless nights.
Below are the details of adoption from me.
Kishi is free to a good home. Caveat being the recipient must be able to show:
1: Disposable income, the average cost for owning a horse including stabling, feed, farrier, veterinary alone averages roughly $500-650 per month or more.
2: Riding experience, this horse is green and the person involved in her rehab at this time is a veteran rider of 30 years and takes the precaution of protective gear and patience. This horse will not go to a novice rider.
3: Stabling and turn out facilities
4: I can provide transport however anyone who has the financial means to care for any horse should be able to cover the cost of that transport.
5. There are no papers with this horse. Other than cogins and vet records. "
