Anyone know anything about these saddles? michael j knoud hunting and polo saddles made in New York. Just curious as I bought one at an auction today, but not really coming up with anything on the internet. The seat size is bigger then I usually use, 19", but it went way to cheap to pass up. It's been used, but is in remarkably good shape. It will be interesting to see if it fits any of my boys. OK, the horses were going way too cheap too, but ya know, I'm already passed my limit. There was a 19yo exracer there that went for $190, but I'm pretty sure the people that bought him weren't kill buyers. He seemed like a nice boy and sound, so here's hoping he's found a good home. They said he was 18, but his tattoo said he was 19. Ya know, for a year, who cares. I didn't watch all the horses go through, because I can't buy them all. Lots of no sales and a 5yo American Trakehner that no saled at $500, but she would have taken $1000 for her. Not sure what the woman was thinking. She should find a performance horse auction if she wants more. As for the mare, she seemed like a pretty nice mare very green and even at 5 quite obviously still maturing physically, I thought she was a Thoroughbred, anyway the woman said something about having 15 horses and needing to reduce her herd. Otherwise, lots of Quarter Horses and Paints. At least one Quarter Horse that I would have wanted to know the horses HYPP status, but over all a buyers market for those they let sell.

OK, so no one has heard of them. From my Googles all I can surmise is the company existed over a hundred years ago and may have been 'the' saddle in some hunt polo circles in the 60's and maybe 70's. I haven't ridden in it yet, but it's looking like it might be a good fit for Zen. Miracle of miracles. Haven't had time to ride test it yet, but did set it on him and it's looking promising. It will depend on how much it squishes down on his withers when I'm on it. The flocking is in remarkable shape, no lumps and soft not compressed, so I'm guessing it had been reflocked not long before someone stopped using it. OK it's a 19", but I think I might be able to get away with it. Anyway, here's my $15 saddle. It's actually in remarkably good shape, billets and all, but they put some saddlac kinda shellac stuff on it to make it shiny, that I've got to get off before it dries out the saddle.
